Pick one of the connection based questions and answer it in your blog. Be sure to write out the question.

Prompt Response:   Consider a situation where someone showed concern for you, even in a small way. How did you  respond, and what does that reveal about you?  Someone once showed concern for me when I was not feeling well. I had the flu and just felt weal and not energized. My dad showed concern my making me soup and also buying me tons of medicine. I responded with a simple thank you. This helped me a lot and showed people care about others. This reveals that I appreciated it.  Summary: Today in class we did vocab and we also did questions as a class. Reflection:  I learned new words and different parts about the book.

Based on the first 40 minutes of the film and Chapters 1–11 of the book, does the visual version of Chris’s journey make his choices seem more justified or more reckless than the text does? Explain how the medium (film vs writing) shapes your perspective.

Prompt Response:  I think the movie makes Chris look more justified because it is in order of what he does. IN the book they do flashbacks and show what he has done in his life but the movie makes him seem more normal. The book is better in my opinion but the movie also helps the understanding of the book. It makes Chris seem way more justified and a regular human but the book makes him seem crazier.  Summary: Today in class we watched the movie version of the book. Reflection:  I learned more about the movie and how the movie is different from the book.

Think about a moment when your understanding of your family changed as you got older. How did that shift impact your perspective, and how does that connect to Chris’s realization about his parents in Chapter 11?

Prompt Response:  I think just in general you start to learn about your family when you get older. I think I just became more aware of things that have happened in my family. Not one certain point comes to mind just you learn more as you get older because when you were a kid you didn't need to know that stuff. So chapter 11 he learns a lot just like i have in general about my family.  Summary: Today in class we did an assignment for chapter 11. Reflection:  I learned more about the book and started to like it more.

Reflect on your reading of Into the Wild chapters 1–10. Which chapter stood out to you the most, and why? In your response, explain what specifically made this chapter meaningful, interesting, or impactful. You may consider elements such as McCandless’s actions, a key event, a theme, or Krakauer’s storytelling.

Prompt Response:  I personally enjoyed chapter 4. I think chapter 4 was a good example of the book in general. In chapter 4 he goes down a river in a canoe near Colorado into Mexico. He doesn't use proper materials and runs out of food in the process. Also walks with no shoes for a while. I think this chapter is a great example of the book in general and my favorite from the first 10 chapters.  Summary: Absent from class Reflection:  Absent from class

Chris McCandless rejects a traditional path of success and instead defines success on his own terms through freedom, experience, and personal meaning. Reflect on what success means to you at your current stage in life. In the response, explain how success is currently defined (grades, college acceptance, achievements, happiness, etc.) and where those ideas come from. Then, consider whether that definition truly reflects personal values or if it is shaped by expectations from family, school, or society.

Prompt Response:  I feel right now success is based on my grades and what I do after high school. Also what ever happens with my soccer in the future. I think my success comes from family and what they believe in and influence me. I want to succeed by playing soccer at the next level in college and go to a good school after graduation because that will set up my life for the future.  Summary: Absent from class Reflection:  Absent from class

Chris chooses independence over relationships. When have you chosen to be on your own instead of relying on others? What happened, and would you make the same choice again?

Prompt Response:  I have decided to be away from people many times. I wouldn't say I am an introvert, but enjoy my alone time. One example is when some people asked me to continue to hang out but I didn't want to and decided to go home. Nothing really happened and I enjoyed my decision because sometimes it's more peaceful to be alone. In some situations its better and sometimes it's not.  Summary: Absent from class Reflection:  Absent from class

Choose a vocabulary word from Lesson 10 that resonates with you personally. Write a blog post explaining why this word is significant to you, including any personal memories or experiences that link you to the word.

Prompt Response:  I was absent in class and when I tried to find the list of the vocab on canvas all I see are the directions. So I am unable to pick a word.  Summary: Absent from class Reflection:  Absent from class

For most of you, yesterday you took the SAT. If you did not, you will take it before you leave high school. What is your desired SAT score? Identify your top three colleges and explain why each school appeals to you.

Prompt Response:  I took the sat yesterday and I hope for a score higher than a 1300. I don't think I did my best that time but hopefully did decent. I will take it again in May. My three schools I want to get into are based on soccer for me. My main goal is to go somewhere for soccer but also had good academics. I like Saint Louis university, Waford, and Charleston university because they have all emailed me about soccer.  Summary: Today in class we read chapter 7 and got a worksheet due Sunday. Reflection:  I learned more about the book and found the book more interesting.

Twice a year we adjust our clocks for daylight saving time, but the change can affect our sleep, energy, and daily routines. Now that we have sprung forward; reflect on how this time change impacts you personally. Do you find it easy or difficult to adjust your schedule? Explain how the time change affects your mood, productivity, or daily habits.

Prompt Response:  I think this is one of my least favorite days. I think this because I always get affected by it. I have a strong time adjusting to the sleep part. Everything else is normal for me. I like fall back a lot more only because you get an extra hour of sleep. Also one thing that I hate is that the soccer games will start later in the day. Norma;;y starting at 3pm will move to 4pm. Summary: Today in class we worked on a worksheet before the sat. Reflection: I learned more about the book through the assignment.

In Chapter 5 of Into the Wild, McCandless is strongly influenced by writers like Jack London, whose stories shape the way he thinks about adventure and wilderness. Has a book, song, musician, or artist ever influenced the way you think about life, goals, or the world around you? Identify the specific book, song, musician, or artist and explain how their ideas or message affected your thinking.

Prompt Response:  Personally I don't think any song or book has influenced my life in a certain way. Some people get influenced and start to like the person, but I just hear some people have famous quotes and I enjoy that. I don't know always who says the quotes, but I feel like those has a strong message and are helpful in hard times to keep pushing.  Summary: Today in class we had a sub and we read chapter 5 of the book. Reflection:  I learned more about the book today and really am enjoying it.

In Into the Wild, Christopher McCandless gives up many of his possessions in pursuit of freedom and meaningful experiences. If you had to simplify your life and keep only a few important possessions, what would you keep and why? What would be hardest to leave behind?

Prompt Response:  I think if I had to keep some things with myself and leave others behind I would keep things like my phone and my favorite foods. I think if I had to simplify things in my life I can get rid of some stuff that is not used or important. Things like snacks and different items just for fun. I really think people can simplify there life just don't want or need to yet,  Summary: I was absent from class. Reflection:  I was absent from class.

People sometimes feel the need to step away from their normal routines or environments in order to better understand themselves. Describe a time when you needed distance from a situation, place, or group of people in order to think more clearly or gain perspective. What did that experience teach you about yourself?

Prompt Response:  One time I needed distance or time away was when COVID happened. I think I was kind of forced to step away from everyone else as the whole world had to step away, but I think this time really helped me and helped me think about the positives about life. I think I gained experience and really found who I am.  Summary: Today in class we worked on our worksheet about different scenarios from chapter 2 and 3 we read.  Reflection:  I learned different facts that happened in the book about him.

After reading Chapter 1 of Into the Wild, consider your first impression of Christopher McCandless. Based solely on the events and details presented in this opening chapter, do you believe McCandless truly understood the risks he was taking when he entered the Alaskan wilderness? Why or why not?

Prompt Response:  I think he didn't fully understand what he was getting himself truly into. I don't think this because he was not fully prepared. He had very minimal supplies and thought he could live with almost no food. He didn't realize the conditions would be that strong either based on his shoes and his clothes. I believe he just wanted to escape life but didn't know it was this hard.  Summary: Today in class we read chapter 1 in class together.  Reflection:  I learned about the new story and what happened to him.

Today you worked on creating your Vocabulary Digital Cards in Adobe Express. In one well-developed paragraph, reflect on the assignment by explaining which vocabulary word was easiest for you to understand, which word was most challenging, and how creating your own sentence and selecting an image helped strengthen your understanding of the vocabulary. Use specific examples from your work.

Prompt Response:  I think Corroborate was the easiest for me to learn and understand because its basically a filler word. This word allows sentences to flow and overall makes the sentence add up and sound like a sentence. The word means to add evidence to or to make more certain. This work can be a used like " The security footage helped Corroborate her story.  Summary: Today in class we were working in the book and created sentences for each word.  Reflection:  I learned 15 new vocabulary words.

After viewing your classmates’ digital posters and reading the feedback comments left on your work, what new ideas or perspectives did you gain about your poster? Reflect on how the feedback influenced the way you think about your creative choices and describe what you learned about the creative process while designing and presenting your poster.

Prompt Response:  I gained a lot of new knowledge on posters. I personally likes so many different posters because of all of the cool and unique designs. I saw so much inspiration and also I think I have so many ideas for next time. Overall this was a great project for me and I learned a lot.  Summary:  Today in class we watched videos and answered questions about ai. We also looked at classmates posters. Reflection:  I learned new ways to detect and new ways to use ai.

Reflect on the simile and metaphor worksheet. Which topic challenged you the most when creating your figurative language, and why? In your response, explain what made that topic difficult and how you worked through the challenge (or what you might do differently next time).

Prompt Response:  Personally I think all of the question were good. I think the one that changed me the most was when it asked overcoming failure. This one is important to everyone because everyone should try to overcome something that has happened to them. I personally over came failure and this was a great moment for me.  Summary: Today in class we finished our simile and metaphor paper and started our digital poster.  Reflection: I learned more similes and more metaphors.

Today you created similes and metaphors that reflect your struggles, growth, and resilience. In a well-developed paragraph, reflect on the process. What did you learn about yourself while writing your figurative language?

Prompt Response:  I learned a lot about what I did in the past. I learned and remembered what I did in general and also liked this assignment because it really brought me back. I didn't learn much because I did all of these activities already but overall it influenced me what I did in the past and what I enjoy today.  Summary: Today we made 6 similes and 6 metaphors about ourselves. Reflection:  I learned and remembered more about my past and realized a lot.

Describe how you spent your time, any activities, traditions, travel, hobbies, or moments that stood out to you. You may also discuss something new you tried, something you learned, or how the break helped you reset before returning to school. Keep your response appropriate for a school setting and focus on experiences you are comfortable sharing publicly

Prompt Response:  During the break I went to Florida because I had a soccer tournament. Then  I stayed at the beach for two extra days. When I came back I hung out with friends and also family. I enjoyed myself a lot and the break was well needed. It allowed me to think and reset for the next 6 weeks before spring break.  Summary: Today in class we worked on a poem and read it. Reflection:  I learned a new poem about black history month.
