Today I recited poem: Still Here, and this is my poem

As the first semester comes to an end, take time to reflect on your learning and growth in this course. In a well-developed response, explain what you enjoyed most about the class, identify the project or assignment you found most engaging, and discuss which aspect of the course you connected with the most (such as poetry, fiction, writing, or discussion). Finally, reflect on one area where you feel you need additional support or improvement as we move into the spring semester.

Prompt Response:  I think during the course of the first semester I enjoyed the poetry part the most. I enjoyed learned new poems each week by different authors. The project I like most is this end of semester poster poem project. This is my favorite assignment because I enjoy projects over test and I enjoy poems. The part I need additional support in the second semester is writing. I don't think my writing is bad but definitely is a weaker point in my Literature.  Thank you Mr. Reese Happy holidays

Many holidays center around traditions. Describe one tradition that is important to you or your family and explain why it still matters (or why it no longer does).

Prompt Response:  One tradition my family does is we go to a fancy restaurant during winter break around Christmas time. We do this every year before Christmas normally and it is super nice. For example we have gone to Chops a steak house downtown and this year we are going to bones another steak house downtown. So not many traditions but its nice to go to a fancy dinner around Christmas time.  Summary: Today in class we worked on our projects and blog post. Reflection:  I learned more about the poem I have to say.

How have the holidays changed as you have grown older? Compare your experiences of the holidays during childhood with how you experience them now, focusing on shifts in perspective, responsibilities, or emotional meaning.

Prompt Response: I think as I have gotten older the excitement has died down. I think during Christmas was so hyped for me and I was so happy. I am still happy now and thankful to receive gifts but back then the gifts and excitement was more. So overall it is still very good but less excitement and less anticipation.    Summary: Today in class we worked on our Vocabulary assignment.  Reflection:  I learned 15 new words and how to use them in sentences.

Write about something you’ve outgrown but still miss.

Prompt Response:  Something I miss that I have outgrown is my old clothes and shoes. I miss these because they were nice and I really liked them. They all looked cool and were some of my favorite clothing and shoes. So I say I miss the clothes and shows even though I have nice clothes now.  Summary: Today in class we worked on our vocabulary test and we also did a worksheet as a class. Reflection: I learned new Vocabulary words and how to use them.

Write about something that you can't stop thinking about.

Prompt Response: Something I can't stop thinking about is winter break. I can't wait until break because I can do whatever I want and wake up at what time I want. Winter break is  my second favorite break because it is the second longest break. So during winter break I will do anything and also Christmas is during winter break.  Summary: Absent  Reflection:  Absent

Post the picture of your cultural identity mask onto your blog. Write a reflection about the creation process of the mask or presenting it to the class.

Prompt Response:   The creation process for my culture mask was very simple. I created something that is based on my background. Also this is how I express myself and showed who I am as a person. For Example I have a Japan flag and a U.S.A flag because I am half Japanese and American. SO this process was really fun and easy for me.  Summary: Absent  Reflection:  Absent

Write about the best gift you have received.

Prompt Response:  The best gift i ever received was a new Phone for Christmas. My dad upgraded my phone last year to a iphone 16. I am so grateful for a new phone because I didn't have a old one but he still got me a new one. It was the best gift because I spend a lot of time on my phone even though it's not the best thing to do. So iphone 16 was mt favorite and best gift.  Summary: Absent  Reflection:  Absent

After watching the short film Identity, write a blog post reflecting on how the masks in the film represent the pressure to fit in and the struggle to discover who you really are. Choose one moment from the film that stood out to you and explain why. Then, connect the film’s message to Langston Hughes’ poem “I, Too” and to the mask you are creating in class. What part of your identity do you want your mask to reveal?

Prompt Response:   The mask in the short film shows that she is different from others. Her mask is the only one i saw that had crazy detail and different designs. Everyone else had minimal detail and mostly plain. One moment that stood out to me was at the start when she started to move very crazy. This connects to the story we read yesterday because it shows that everyone is different in their own ways.  Summary:  Today in class we worked on our masks. Reflection:  I learned more about masks and identity.

In “I, Too,” the speaker expresses pride in his identity and his rightful place in America. Reflect on your own life: What aspect of your cultural identity are you most proud of, and why?

Prompt Response:  The aspect of my cultural identity I am most proud of is that I am half Japanese. I think it's pretty cool that I am not only white but also mixed with Japanese. I am very proud of this because I think Japanese people are super nice and it's a very nice place. So overall I am proud that I am Japanese.  Summary: Today in class we worked on the Story and we filled out a new work sheet based on our culture. Reflection:  I learned more about the book today in class and new vocabulary words.

In “We Real Cool,” the speakers make choices that seem exciting, bold, and rebellious, even though those choices lead to consequences. Write about a moment in your own life when you followed what looked cool or fun, only to realize afterwards that it wasn’t the smart or responsible path. What influenced your decision, and how did your perspective change later?

Prompt Response:  One time I went to a Hispanic party with my friends thinking it was a good idea. I thought nothing bad because it was with my friends but it turned out pretty dumb. My friends influenced my decision by telling me it would be okay but I didn't feel super safe and saw a lot of scary stuff. So overall I don't think I will agree to go so easy next time.  Summary: Today in Class we worked on a poem and did a worksheet about some of the words in the poem. Reflection:  I learned a new poem today and the leaning.

Discuss something meaningful or memorable you experienced over the break, or reflect on what you felt most thankful for during that time.

Prompt Response:   Something that is meaningful that I did over break was seeing my family. I went to North Carolina and saw my grandparents. I do this every year and really enjoy it. We go to Oak island and enjoy the beach. I am most thankful for my family because they are super important and I don't get to see family too much because some live in Japan.  Summary: In class today we did our lesson 3 vocabulary lesson. Reflection:  I learned 15 new vocabulary words.
