After two weeks of studying rhetorical devices, types of rhetoric, and methods for identifying rhetorical techniques, which rhetorical device do you find most effective or compelling, and why?

Prompt Response:  After two weeks I think the most important rhetoric device is metaphor. This is the most important because I think it is the most common or close to the most common one. It is also very simple and people should use it a lot and people don't even realize when they use this. Also many people know this one and it benefits your understanding of all the other rhetorical devices.  Summary: I was absent from class today. Reflection:   I was absent from class today.

Choose a vocabulary word that resonates with you personally. Write a blog post explaining why this word is significant to you, including any personal memories or experiences that link you to the word.

Prompt Response:   The word that is significant to me is complacency. This word is important to me because it talks about being satisfied. For me personally this word means so much. In my opinion you should never be satisfied. I feel there is always more to do and accomplish. You should always try to do more than what you think you can.  Summary: Today in class we worked on more vocabulary for the week. Reflection:  I learned in class 15 new vocabulary words.

Write about a time you didn’t feel like yourself.

Prompt Response:  I didn't feel like myself when COVID hit. I didn't feel like myself because the world was shut down. Everyone was home and I saw very little people. I felt like I was stuck. I was alone and just with my family. Also I was just eating and nothing else. So that's when I didn't feel like myself.  Summary:  Today in class we listened to the MLK speech and did the rhetorical analysis.  Reflection:  I learned more about rhetorical devices and more about the MLK speech.

Describe a place where you feel the most at peace and explain why.

Prompt Response:   Somewhere I feel the most peace is by myself in my bed and watching on my phone. I feel the most peace here because it doesn't happen that often and if it does it's not for long. I like this because I feel I am always doing something. I always play soccer or go to the gym or have homework. So it's nice when I get alone time.  Summary: Today in class we worked on more rhetorical questions from the book. Reflection:  I learned more vocab works and will have a test on them on Tuesday.

Reflect on a time when you had to rely on someone else. How did it feel?

Prompt Response:  One time I had to rely on someone was when we do group projects in class. There is always someone in the group that waits to the last minute to do their work and you always get nervous and wonder if they are actually going to do it. It doesn't feel the best because you don't want to do extra work but also you want to get a good grade on it.  Summary: Today in class we worked more on rhetorical devices. Reflection:  I learned 4 new rhetorical devices from the book.

What life skills have you learned in high school that will help you live independently after high school? Which skills do you think are essential for your success after high school?

Prompt Response:   I learned in high school you need to take risks and not be afraid to talk in front of your class and also ask questions. I learned don't worry what others think out you and just be yourself. After High school I think it's important that you are brave and do what you want to do in life. Take risks and make sure to always speak up for yourself.  Summary: Today  in class we worked on more rhetorical devices. Reflection:   I learned the deeper meaning of 3 rhetorical devices.

Describe a time when you took a hiatus from something important. What led to the break, and how did it impact you?

Prompt Response:  One time I took a hiatus from soccer. I took this break because I really needed it and I was injured. I took the break because I felt I was doing too much and was over working and this led to my groin being pulled. Since then I have always had major groin problems when I play soccer. So overall this break helped me.  Summary: Today in class we worked more on our rhetorical questions and learned 3 new ones.  Reflection:  I learned 3 new rhetorical devices.
