Write about a fear you have overcome.

Prompt Response:  I had to overcome the fear of riding roller coasters. When I was younger I went to six flags and rode a roller coaster and it was very scary for me. It was an older ride and it went fast so I was really scared at first. Now days I like them because I think they are pretty exciting but they do hurt my back sometimes. So overall, I overcame my fear of roller coasters.  Summary:   Today in class we worked on our read a passage on school and picked claims from the story. Reflection:  Today I learned about school programs from 3 year and 4 year colleges and different claim types.

As you grow older and face new experiences, what issue or topic do you think you'll have to stand up and debate most often, whether with friends, family, or society?

Prompt Response:  I think I will have to stand up and debate is money and parenting. I think Money is an important one because you can't just spend all of it. So money is super important to debate about and keep safe. Then I think of parenting because everyone has their own ways and styles of parenting. This is important so you don't have a bad representation of yourself by your kids. Summary: Today in class we worked on ethos pathos and logos more and did another work sheet on them. We also looked at the different types of facts.  Reflection:  Today I learned about what the different types of facts are and how they are used, in an argument.

Write about a truth you were afraid to accept.

Prompt Response:  One truth I was too afraid to accept is that life is uncontrollable. So that means that you don't need to spend so long on planning because everything can change. Don't take everything and everyone in life so seriously because life can change at any point in time. So when you are unsure don't stress about planning and just let it all work out.  Summary:  Today in class we took notes on how to win an argument, and we did a worksheet on ethos, logos, and pathos. Reflection:  I learned what ethos, logos, and pathos are and how they are used to win an argument.

Write about a time when you were judged unfairly.

Prompt Response:  One time I felt judged unfairly when someone named Luke said I  look like I play Valorant. He said I look like I play this game because of my race. He assumed that all Asians play this game. I don't play this game but felt very judged when he said this about me. So this is the time I felt very judged. Summary: Today in class we worked on our common lit and we also did the blog post.  Reflection:  I learned about common lit and made sure to do it.

Imagine you are learning about Hispanic/Latino heritage for the very first time. What would you be curious to know about the traditions, foods, music, or celebrations?

Prompt Response:  I would be very curious about the traditions and music. I personally like the music even though I don't speak the language . I think the music has a lot of passion behind it, and it has a good tempo. I don't really know the traditions, but they seem pretty cool. So overall I like the Hispanic group, but want to learn more.  Summary: Today in class we learned about different writing techniques and we talked about different overrated things. Reflection:  I learned how to start writing better and I learned how to get writing prompts.

After viewing your classmates’ poem posters, select one presentation that caught your attention. Describe what you enjoyed about it or something new you learned from their work.

Prompt Response:  Overall the poem poster i enjoyed the most was Angus's. I think his poem was smooth and it transitioned very well all together. His poem poster also had very good lines that rhymed and flowed all together. Also it was very funny the lines he used. I believe he should've won, but he didn't. L learned he also loves basketball because he made it about basketball.  Summary: Today in class we presented our poem posters and did a work sheet on vocabulary.  Reflection:  Today I learned new words and what they mean from our vocabulary work.

In “The Interlopers” by Saki, Ulrich and Georg view each other as interlopers, outsiders intruding on their land and their lives. Think about a time when you felt like an interloper or when someone else felt out of place in your world. How did that situation affect relationships, emotions, or outcomes?

Prompt Response:  I think one time someone felt out of place around me was when there is a friend group of 3 people and there is always a duo in the trio. What i mean by this is that there are always two people in a group of three that will always click better and have more fun together. This doesn't mean it will always happen but it will happen sometimes with friends. I think it has happened to me before. Also i have been in both positions.  Summary: Today in class we did a common lit and worked on poems.  Reflection:  Today I learned what an interloper really means and how it can affect relations.

Of today’s 15 vocabulary words, which three do you think you will use the most in your speaking and writing this semester? Explain why each word feels useful or powerful to you.

Prompt Response:  I think I would use the words aesthetic, amoral, and affection. I believe these words are good word to use when writing. First aesthetic shows how well something is. Then you have amoral, which shows personality in the writing. Lastly you have affection which shows emotions in the story.  Summary: Today in class we worked on a poem and took notes. Reflection:   I learned how to organize my writing before i even start writing with a graphic organizer.

It’s Homecoming Week! 🎉 What do you love most about being part of the Lakeside community? How do you show off your school spirit? What is your favorite Homecoming tradition or event?

Prompt Response:  I love just being a part of the lakeside community in general because the people are just very nice and very helpful. Lakeside is very fun because of all of the great people. I show off my school spirit by participating in the weekly days of dressing up. Also by going to the football games. My favorite tradition is when they announce the king and queen winners.  Summary: Today in class we worked on our poem posters and took a quiz on Lawrence Ferlinghetti.  Reflection:  Today I learned how to make a poem poster and did well on my quiz i took.

Which learning method do you enjoy the most? Class discussions, worksheet work, or hands-on actvities. Select one and tell why.

Prompt Response:   I enjoy hands on activities the most. I think it helps me learn the best. Also I think its good to be hands on because people are interacting with each other. Hands on activities also make you think quickly and effectively. This is definitely the best way for me.  Summary: Today we worked on our poems then started on our poem poster.  Reflection:  Today I learned more about how to make a poem.

Which aspect of creating a poem do you enjoy the most? Tell what it is and explain why.

Prompt Response:  I enjoy the back story of my poem. I think its the best part to explain and construct a poem.  I enjoy thinking about how to put the poem together and how to make it flow and rhyme. Also the back story is up to you so you can make it about anything. So the back story has the most creativity and freedom.  Summary: We worked on our poems, and learned about figurative language.  Reflection:  I learned how to make a poem today.

After reading Lawrence Ferlinghetti's poem "Constantly Risking Absurdity," which explores the poet's daring craft, write about your most absurd personal experience. Describe a single, specific incident that felt ridiculously bold or foolish. Ensure your response is vivid, concise, and captures the essence of absurdity.

Prompt Response:  My most absurd experience was when I scored a goal in my soccer game for the first time in 5 years. I didn't score for 5 years, but then one day i took a shot and scored. It was so absurd because it was so rare for me to do. I was so shocked when I scored and everyone around me was shocked because they know I don't score. So this was my most absurd experience ever.  Summary: We read a poem and took notes.  Reflection:  I learned about Lawrence Ferlinghetti and his types of poems.

You are currently working on a soundtrack for selected Emily Dickinson poems. With that in mind, if asked to choose a song to describe your life right now, which song would you select and why?

Prompt Response:   I think I would choose the song  "Don't Stop Me Now" by Queen." I would pick this song because it represents a happy life. I also would say this song is about living in the moment and not getting to ahead of life in general. So I am happy and this song represents that perfectly. Also i say I live in the moment and don't think too far ahead just like this song. So this is a perfect song to represent me at the current time.  Summary: Today we took a test on Emily Dickinson poems. We also worked on our illuminate work. Reflection:   Today i learned how much I know about Emily Dickinson poems by taking a quiz.

If you were to compose a poem about one aspect of your life, which topic would it fall into and what would your overall life's message be?

Prompt Response:   I would pick my creative mind. I would pick this because i am very creative and it will have a good theme. In the end it will be about the struggle then winning. This will show you need to struggle to start winning. This is a good representation of a poem for very creative people.   Summary: Today in class we learned about more poems from Emily Dickinson, and we did an Illuminate.  Reflection:   I learned about poems and how to do better analysis on poems.
